# Putting people on a project

> Adding someone to your company does not put them on a job. Here's the difference between a company role and what they can do on this job.

<Warning>
  **Read this first.** Adding a person to your company creates their login. It does **not** put them on any job. This is the single most common setup mistake in DirtView.

## The two steps people collapse into one

    Left menu → **Employees**. This creates their account and gives them a company role.

    Open the job → project team → add the person. Until you do this, they sign in successfully and see nothing.

## Company role vs. what they can do here

Their **company role** (Foreman, PM, Admin…) is the ceiling — the set of things that role is ever allowed to do. Being on this job is what lets them do those things *on this job*.

<Tip>
  So: "Why can't José see the drawings?" is almost always step 2 missing, not a permissions problem. Check job membership before you start editing roles.
