# Where does this file go?

> Sheets go to Drawings. The spec book goes to Specifications. Everything else goes to Documents & Media.

  * A **drawing sheet** → Drawings
  * The **spec book** → Specifications
  * **Everything else** → Documents & Media

This is the most-asked question in DirtView. The rule above answers it every time.

## Why it matters

The three places aren't just folders — they behave differently:

    Splits a PDF into sheets, indexes sheet numbers, supports markup, tracks revisions.

    Put a spec book here and none of that works.

    Indexes sections, feeds submittals, answers questions.

    Put a drawing here and you get nothing useful.

  <Card title="Documents & Media" icon="folder-open">
    General storage: photos, contracts, permits, delivery tickets, closeout.

    No special behaviour, and that's fine — most files don't need any.

## The edge cases people ask about

    Attach it to the RFI response, where the question is. Copying it to Documents & Media as well is fine, but the RFI is the record.

    If it's a drawing sheet, Drawings. If it's spec text, it goes with the spec book. If you're not sure, ask: do I want to mark it up and revision it, or search it by section?
